PUBLIC SAFETY: Ban indiscriminate sales of cooking gas now, Enugu Safety Group urges

The need for Public Health, Safety and Standardization cannot be overemphasized, this is why the Enugu Safety Group ESG is calling on dealers in Cooking Gas to comply with Safety Protocols on Liquefied Cooking Gas.

In a statement by the coordinator of Enugu Safety Group, ESG, Barr. Henry Okeke, “Enugu Safety Group, ESG warns against the unhealthy and reckless exposure of Liquefied Cooking Gas in Enugu streets and neighborhoods”.

“It has been observed that dealers in Cooking Gas can be found in every nooks and crannies of our dear State, thereby endangering the lives of Ndi Enugu. This unhealthy and unsafe practices is unacceptable.

“We are worried because prevention is far cheaper than disaster” , Henry Nnanna Okeke stated.

Therefore, Government must step in with a task force and other proactive measures to prohibit this dangerous trend.

This Public Health and Safety awareness is also directed to the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR Enugu office, ESG beckoned.

In a Public Health and Safety awareness statement made available to the media, Barr. Henry Okeke further stated; Enugu Safety Group ESG deeply sympathizes with the victims of kerosene explosion in Nsukka and wishes survivals of the unfortunate incident quick recovery.

“We commend the compassionate Governor of Enugu State for his timely visit to the victims of kerosene Explosion”.

Therefore, in order to prevent a worst case scenario, we must immediately Ban sales of Liquidified Cooking Gas in our neighborhoods and stipulate penalties for defaulters, Barr. Henry Nnanna Okeke who is also an assistant to the Governor of Enugu State, insisted.
