In order to position Deltans to have a seamless living standard from, and understand the efforts the government is using to mitigate the effect of the current economic recession facing the country, the Delta State government is to hold a summit, tagged “Building a Recession-Free Delta State”.
The summit which is being put together by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Special Duties, Government House, Hon Humphrey Uzuakpondu, said that the summit is part of the Office contribution to the celebration of the two years anniversary of the government of His Excellency, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, as the summit will expose the gains of the administration within the period despite the recession.
According to a press release, the summit which will hold in Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area, on Thursday, June 29, 2017, will unveil the relevance of peace and security in creating an enabling environment for economic growth and development as it had positively helped in increasing the Internally Generated Revenue of the State from the operations of Local Oil Companies and Multi-Nationals in the State.
The release further stated that among others, the summit will help the State formulate more policies and programmes that will salvage the State from the prevailing recession and improve the life of her citizenry.
Make the public aware of Government’ policies and programmes since the inception of the present administration as embedded in the SMART agenda.
Unveil the roles of the Party in building ‘A Recession-Free” State Representatives and the public on past, present and future policies on the basis of the SMART Agenda.
Bring the government closer to the people and to correct misconception of the government as being propagated by agents of destruction
The summit which will have the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the Special Guest of Honour will be chaired by Dr. Chukuwuemeka Ojieh, will have key speakers amongst them the Commissioner of Information Mr. Patrick Ukah, who will speak on topics such as
“Unveiling the relevance of peace and security in building “A recession- free”, “The possible growth and development mechanism that can help build “A Recession- Free” State
“An overview of the SMART Agenda of His Excellency; Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, which will outline a summary of Government’s implemented projects, policies and programmes to be taken by Hon. Patrick Ukah Commissioner for Information, Delta State.
“The role of the Party in building ‘A Recession-Free” State”
The organisers of the summit says that apart from other top government officials, and personalities that are expected to attend the summit, other stakeholders like the opposition party, All Progressive Congress, APC, women groups, Representatives of community youths, community Chiefs, Community Development Unions, Host Community of Oil and Gas, NUT, AOPSHON, ANCOPSS, NASU, NULGE among others are expected in the one-day summit.
