Leaders of Rotary International District 9142, Nigeria have eulogised Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for the successes his administration has recovered within the short period it has been in office.
The Rotarians spoke through the District Governor, Dr. Emman Ude Akpeh, when they paid a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Enugu.
They said that the four-point agenda of Governor Ugwuanyi ‘s administration, namely: employment generation, enhanced social services and good governance, rural development, and justice and security are clear testimony that the governor is “a good ambassador of Rotary”, adding that “we are happy that as a Rotarian and indeed a past President you (Gov. Ugwuanyi) have continued to let service to the people define your actions”.
The District Governor in his address, applauded Enugu State Government for partnering the federal government, Rotary along with other core partners in the campaign for the eradication of Polio worldwide, noting that “Her Excellency, Mrs Monica Ugwuanyi participated fully alongside Rotarians and other volunteers in the activities (especially awareness rally) organized during the 2016 World Polio Day here in Enugu”.
Dr. Akpeh disclosed that Rotary and the Enugu State Government share a good relationship and highlighted the numerous contributions of the Club to the government, society and humanity at large.
The District Governor used the opportunity to inform the governor of the forthcoming formal inauguration of Rotary International District 9142 and his installation as the Pioneer District Governor on July 15, 2017, in Awka, Anambra State.
Dr. Akpeh on behalf of Rotary International President, Ian Riseley, presented some Rotary Leadership Materials to the governor such as Rotary Four-Way Test Bannerette and 2017 Rotary International Theme (Making a Difference) Bannerette, “in appreciation of the good works you have been doing through your classification of public governance” and urged him to continue to serve humanity selflessly through Rotary: Making a Difference.
Also in his remark, the past District Governor, Emma Nwankpa saluted the governor for being a humanitarian and God-fearing Governor with a human face, who is making a difference. He commended the governor for his grassroots oriented programmes and prayed God to give him more wisdom to continue to lead the people aright, saying that the governor’s four-point agenda is on course.
