Suspected armed herdsmen, on Sunday, attacked communities in the Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, killing people no fewer than seven people.
It was gathered that three of the slain victims were cousins to the spokesperson for the police in the state, Catherine Anene.
A native, who did not want his name in print, told our correspondent that attack happened in the early hours on Sunday, adding that several people were injured by the assailants.
The native said, “Four people were killed at Tse Gamber in the Sengev Council Ward while three others were killed at camp Nagi in the Mbachohon Council Ward located along Naka-Agagbe Road.”
The police spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed to our correspondent she is from one of the communities, adding that three of those killed were her cousins.
“That is my village, three of my cousins were killed and that is the total number,” she said.
