The challenge of supporting Frank Nweke Jr.

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Given the high level of bad governance at all levels in Nigeria and the need to enthrone people oriented governments in order for us to preserve some level of dignity as human beings, one cannot help but canvas for a candidate that fits the bill when one finally finds such a candidate because they are very, very scarce here. Thank God, I managed to discover Frank who stands out like a golden fish among the other typical Nigerian politicians we all know.

However, I find advocating for Frank Nweke Jr., the Enugu State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), a bit challenging. The challenge I have with him is that he is so good a product for governor that I discover that it begins to sound immodest or like praising singing when you discuss his leadership qualities and his invaluable achievements. The truth is that that man is really so good that it is almost unbelievable.

When I discovered his achievements while serving as minister and in other capacities, I wondered why he was not blowing his trumpet like a typical politician who would not even achieve 2% of what Frank achieved would. But that points to the nature of person he is. He is Frank Nweke Jr., simple, unassuming, intelligent, honest, compassionate, understanding, visionary, humane, wise, calm but very proactive, helpful and progressive. Now, how does that sound – praise singing? However, that is the true nature of the man. He is Frank.

I have come to the realization that marketing a very good political product can be very challenging because we are living in an environment filled with greedy, dishonest and mediocre elements whose politics is to get into office to steal from the public treasury and enrich their private pockets. So, when a complete opposite like Frank comes around, it becomes too hard to convince the people that this one is different. Nevertheless, we must push on until good prevails over evil.
