The Zonal Head of the South East Zonal office of Economic and Financial Crimes Corruption, EFCC, Johnson Babalola has urged stakeholders and indeed all well meaning Nigerians not see their efforts at eradicating corruption as futile but rather as quite effective and aimed at safeguarding the future of the country and generations unborn.
Babalola , represented by the Head of Intelligence and Special Operations Section (ISOS) ,Johnson Oshodi made the remark on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Commission’s zonal office in Enugu while rounding up the “ Walk Against Corruption” organized by EFCC and her stakeholders to commemorate the 2017 International Day Against corruption which was observed in all its zonal office across the country, including the headquarters at Abuja.
“We need not be deterred irrespective of the obstacles encountered while fighting corruption because, there must always be obstacles but with our dedication and doggedness, we must get it right.” He stated.
He thanked all agencies that were represented at the event for their consistent support to the Commission saying it is an indication that EFCC was not alone in the fight against corruption.
While making their separate remarks, representatives of sister agencies all acknowledged the need for collaborative efforts at eradicating corruption saying that the walk has sent a message of agency partnership to the public.
Representative of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC), Bar. Dennis Okoro further said that, “Just as the perpetration of corruption involves collaborative efforts, as no one person can fully succeed in carrying out any corrupt activity, the fight against corruption must as well be a collaborative effort in other to break this diabolical chain of corruption”.
The walk which started off from the Federal College Road office of the Commission through some notable streets in Enugu culminated at the office where remarks were made by representatives from Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Road Safety Commission, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Copyright Commission, Nigeria Fire Service, FCMB, Diamond Bank and Nigeria Youth Service Corps (NYSC) among others.
