The Ministry of Youths and Sports Development has said no fewer than 10,000 youths will participate virtually in its first National Youth Conference in Nigeria.

A statement by the ministry on Monday in Abuja said the conference scheduled for between October 12 and 15, 2021, was made possible with the approval of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd.).

It partly read, “The conference, which was made possible by the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari, is premised on the realisation that Nigeria needs her youths not only to be supported and developed, but to understand the dimensions of political developments, grasp national issues and consciously place themselves in a position of co-builders.

“The ministry explained that the conference is also to achieve the fullness of inclusiveness for the nation’s youth. It is also clear that a deep and concise conversation is necessary with the young men and women we believe will be entrusted with our nation’s future; a conversation away from the adult dominated national conferences that have hitherto been the norm.”

It added that the conference would host over 370 youth delegates as participants from all the states in the country.

“Over 10,000 youth are expected to hook up and participate in the conference virtually,” it added.
