Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has challenged the federal government to use the same energy dissipated in the celebrated arrest of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu to arrest Miyetti Allah and Fulani Herdsmen who caused more harm to the unity of the country.
Governor Ortom stated that the activities of Fulani Herdsmen backed by Miyetti Allah has crippled the economy of Benue State as well as heightened insecurity.
“If Nnamdi Kanu can be arrested from a foreign land , I believe that if federal government exhibit the same will, they will arrest Fulani Herdsmen especially Miyetti Allah who have owned up to the killings in Benue State and have continued to terrorise our land”.
He described as laughable and unfortunate for Miyetti Allah to brand Nnamdi Kanu a terrorist while it is itself a known terrorists organisation.
“It is laughable and unfortunate, when I heard that Miyetti Allah are calling Nnamdi Kanu a terrorist. Someone who is fighting for the liberation of his people is being called a terrorist by a terrorist organisation, Miyetti Allah Fulani Herdsmen. So, federal government should rise up to its responsibility and arrest this one”.
Governor Ortom called on the Federal Government to ensure that due process is followed in the trial of Nnamdi Kanu if he has committed any crime against the state.
Orton said “I have no problem in trying Nnamdi Kanu. Due processes should be followed and let there be Justice. If he has committed any offence, let their be justice”. “But the federal government must also do justice by arresting Fulani Herdsmen who have been terrorising our land, who have created so much problems and pains, challenges to our economy, to security, to our unity. If federal government does not do that, it means they are not serious”.
