THE Chief of Staff to the Delta State Governor, Mr. Tam Brisibe, has extolled Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s peace -building platforms and initiatives, as well as his exemplary leadership of the state in a peaceful environment which has placed the state on an enviable height.

He made the statement in Asaba, while receiving a book “Meaningful Peace Building Platforms’’ authored by Rev. Prof. Oke Akokotu, saying that the state governor has distinguished himself and given Deltans every reason to be happy and appreciative of the roles of government in bringing peaceful environment and development to doorsteps of the people.

Hon. Brisibe described Governor Okowa as an intelligent, focused, resulted-oriented and charismatic governor, who since his assumption of office on May 29, 2015, has initiated several landmark programmes in peacebuilding across the state.
He noted that only a peaceful environment will attract development, stressing that Deltans can now attest to the effects of peace in the state and applauded the governor for creating the Office of the Special Adviser on Peace Building, saying that the book will assist in preaching peace to Deltans and commended the efforts of the author, urging him to sustain it.

In his remark, the Secretary, Delta State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Rev. (Prof). Oke Akokotu, the author of the book, who also doubled as the state Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Delta State Chapter, commended the tireless efforts of Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, who has ensured that peace reigns in all parts of the state, describing the governor as a renowned man of peace, astute peace builder and consummate peace maker. Rev. Akokotu, said that the book was written to make every Deltan comfortable in his concentration on survival, redirecting the teeming youths from hooliganism to respect for the dignity of human beings.

He noted that Senator Okowa knows and understands the right spices to meaningful peace building platforms, hence he began by engaging the youths into “Youth Agricultural Empowerment Programme (YAGEP) and the Skill Training Empowerment Programme (STEP) to provide employment for the teeming youths in the state.”

Earlier, the book reviewer, Dr. Godwin Adolor, who harped on the chapter eight of the book “correlating truth with peace for the efficiency of national peacebuilding platforms’’ said that unfortunately, in Nigeria, many people want peace, but they do not want to hear the truth, noting that some Nigerians preached peace while condemning equity.
