The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ebere Amaraizu, made the appeal in a statement he signed on Tuesday in Enugu.
Amaraizu said that the exercise, which would last for a week, was meant to improve the weapon handling proficiency of the new intakes.
He noted that the exercise would be carried out at the Superior Police Officers Mess within the ever busy Agbani Road within Enugu metropolis.
“The command wishes to inform members of the public especially those living in the command’s shooting range located behind Superior Police Officers Mess, Agbani Road, that there will be weapon handling and shooting range exercise for the police recruits of Police College Oji-River.
“The exercise kicks-off from Sept. 11 and will end on Sept. 16, 2017. “Members of the public are advised not to panic or entertain fear during the exercise as it is a routine training exercise carried out by the police to enhance professionalism in weapon handling,’’ he said.
