Asaba: Fashion Design and Tailoring as well as Electrical Installation and Repairs beneficiaries of the Delta State Government Skills Training Entrepreneurship Programme STEP, have been given their starter packs by the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa even as he advised them to justify the resources of the state by making judicious use of the opportunities they have.
Handing over the Starter Packs in a ceremony at Asaba, the state capital, Governor Okowa represented by Prof. Eric Eboh, the Chief Jobs Creation Officer congratulated the beneficiaries for being able to undergo the training and now receiving their Starter Packs, maintaining that it is a programme designed to empower the youths to become self-reliance.
“Governor Okowa want you to succeed and the only thing you owe him is to utilise this golden opportunity given to you to better your lives and those around you. You have to prepare for the exhibitions that we will organise by the end of the year so that you can showcase your products.” Eboh stated.
He urged the beneficiaries to be disciplined, warning that it is the bedrock of any successful enterprises. “Today is a turning point because it marks phases that will catapult you to success. Seek advice from the people in the business but most importantly listen to yourself.” He added.
In her goodwill message, Mrs. Mary Iyasele, told the beneficiaries that their success which has been programmed by Senator Okowa can only manifest through commitment to God and hard work, explaining further that their training was to build up their minds to be able to face the challenges of a successful business.
“Don’t envy your mates in the civil service because you are better than them. They don’t have challenges that can make them get self actualisations like you. In fact, some of your mates that you left school with are still hopeless but today, God has offered you this opportunities. Therefore, you have to glorify God by improving your businesses. And for you to do that is to be honest, focused and God fearing, then your work will show for you.” She pointed.
Also speaking, Comrade Egwuyenga Ifeanyi Michael of the Directorates of Youths Mentoring and Evaluation, said; “Self development should be your goal, government has given you a seed, you have to prove yourselves and resist the temptation of selling your equipment.”
Sandra Uwajie and Reuben Oji who spoke on behalf of the fashion and tailoring and electrical repairs respectively, promised to make judicious use of their items even as they thanked the governor for creating programme that will improve the lives of the youths in the state.
