Internet and Communication Technology, Furniture / Upholstery and Plumbing beneficiaries of the Delta State Government under the Skills Training Entrepreneurship Programme STEP, have been given their starter packs by the Chief Jobs Creation Officer, Prof Eric Eboh with a charge on them to justify government support for them.
Handing over the Starter Packs in a ceremony at Asaba, the state capital Prof. Eboh congratulated the beneficiaries for being able to undergo the training and now receiving their Starter Packs, explaining that it is a programme designed to empower the youths to become self-reliance.
According to the Chief Jobs Creation Officer, Nigerians are too sceptical because of lack of trust from government programmes in the past but assured that the reverse is the case in Senator Okowa’s administration as he fulfils his promises to Deltans.
He urged the beneficiaries to be discipline warning that it is the bedrock of any successful enterprises. “Today is a turning point because it marks a phase that will catapult you to success. Seek advice from the people in the business but most importantly listen to yourself.” He pointed.
The Chief Jobs Creation Officer, informed the beneficiaries to prepare their products ahead of the exhibition to hold before the end of the year where all the beneficiaries of STEP will be giving a stand to display their products.
In her goodwill message, Mrs. Marry Iyasele, told the beneficiaries that their success which has been programmed by Senator Okowa, can only manifest through commitment to God and hard work, explaining further that their training was to build up their minds to be able to face the challenges of a successful business.
“So many people who are running these businesses does not have equipments but Okowa administration has given you opportunities to start in good footen. I am here as a Commissioner but i started as a petty trader. Today, these items are given to you free of charge. ” She said.
Mrs. Flora Alanta, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Women Mobilizations, said a grateful heart is a prosperous soul, and advised the beneficiaries to be consistent to hard work in total commitment to God so as to be able to sustained their businesses and to empower others.
A beneficiary, Mr. Adjohwenyo Ufuomanefe Igho, who gave the vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to God for the life empowerment programme.
He also commended Governor Okowa for the support and prayed for wisdom for the governor.
Items received by the ICT services are; jobs creation grants, non-repayable, laptop HP, generator Summec Fireman 2900, micro credit repayable, printer lesser jet HP 130A, micro workstation toolkit, cash allowance N100,000, three months stipend on confirmation of business start-up – N30,000 at N10,000 per month.
The beneficiaries of the furniture and upholstery were given the following items; “job creation grant non-repayable, sewing machine protes brand for leather, generator Summec 2900, micro credit repayable, drilling machine (botch), 13mm, screwing machine (raider), handsaw, hammer, tape, G-clamp, scissors, manual spray machine Gx 160 5 HP, chisel pinches and three months stipend on confirmation of business start-up – N30,000 at N10,000 per month.
